If you find that your fingerprints have disappeared from your settings, it could be due to a software issue with Xiaomi. Because as you know, Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phones often have a lot of bugs on MIUI. There's even a chance that it could be a hardware error. If you dropped your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone or hit it, the problem is likely hardware related. This blog will tell you How To Fix The Fingerprint Option, Not Showing Problem Solved. This is a common problem for side-mounted fingerprint Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone.
Restart your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone
Restarting it is always a solid first step if you're having difficulties with your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone. It is often needed to get things back up and running smoothly. For example, try giving your device a reboot if your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone isn't registering your fingerprint or you can't find the fingerprint option under settings.
Factory reset
If you're having trouble with your device, one thing you can try is formatting it. It usually solves a lot of problems. Make sure to sign out of your Mi account before you do this. You won't be capable of running it if you forget the password.
Go to settings, click on the "My device" tab, and scroll down a little. You will see the "Factory reset" button.
Click on the factory reset button. All of your data will delete. Make back-up before factory reset. Then Click on the "erase all data" button. MIUI will display some notices about your data. Take these notices and stay. Your device will restart after a factory reset. The problem may be hardware if there is still no fingerprint or it does not work.
Don't factory reset if you have a device with a restored IMEI number. If you do a factory reset, your IMEI will go. You must Format data with TWRP instead of doing a factory reset. Before all of these steps, sign out from your mi account if you do not recognise the password of your mi account.
Format the Data
- Enter the TWRP via pushing the Volume down + Power on/off button.
- Go to the "wipe" section.
- Then Click on the "format data" button.
- Then type "yes" for formatting data.
- Then Click on the button on the right-bottom.
- Then Click on the "reboot system" button.
Reflash stock kernel with TWRP
You may encounter issues if you change or upgrade your kernel settings. In that case, you will need to reflash your stock kernel. Download the fast boot ROM of the ROM you currently use and extract it twice. You will see "boot.img". This is your stock kernel. Copy it to your device's internal storage. Please be careful to get the boot.img from the right ROM; otherwise, it may brick the device.
Enter the TWRP by pressing the Volume up + Power on/off button. Then Click on that "install" area and the "install image" button. Then find your stock boot.img. Click on it, select the "Boot" section, and slide the slider to the right. Then Click on the "restart system" button.
Reflash stock kernel with PC
If you want to access this method and have a PC, the process is more straightforward than the one for a Mac. Install the ADB drivers and boot your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone into Fastboot. Then connect the Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone to the PC. You can open CMD by typing "cmd" in the run window (which you can open by pushing the Windows + R buttons).
- Then enter "fastboot flash boot <drag stock boot.img of your current rom>".
- Restart the device by pushing the power button for 10 seconds. The problem may be hardware if there is still no fingerprint or it does not work.
- Reflash Stock Persist Image with TWRP
Infrequent things are necessary to remember when flashing stock persists on your device. Firstly, you must use the persist file from your current ROM. You can find this file inside the Fastboot ROM. Secondly, be careful to choose the correct continue file for your device. If you don't, may brick your device.
Remember: Transforming persistent partition can damage the L1 certificate, meaning film and series apps like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix will play just 480p. Use this method as the final choice.
- Enter the TWRP and Click on "install". Then Click on the "install image" button.
- Then find the "persist. img" file. Click on it and select persist partition. Then, slide the slider to the right.
- Once you're finished making changes, click the "Reboot System" button to reboot your device.
- Reflash Stock Persist with PC
- Also, you can use a PC for reflashing persist. You must include ADB drivers for this method.
- To begin, reboot your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone into TWRP. Next, connect it to your PC. You will then open CMD by typing "cmd" into the run window (which can be opened by pressing the Win + R buttons).
- Move to persist.img to the storage of your Mi Xiaomi Note 9 phone.
- Then Enter “dd if=/sdcard/persist.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist”
- Then, press enter. Then open your device by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. Must fix the problem.
- If you're still having trouble, it's likely a hardware issue. You must take your device to the tech services or replace the fingerprint sensor.
